Reconnecting with Our Food: A Key to Inner Healing at Hayulima

The journey of self-knowledge transforms not only our way of being but also reaches the roots of our feelings, making space for new understanding. This inner journey bridges the gaps between what our mind thinks, how our body expresses itself, and what our soul needs for personal growth.Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Talking about complete transformation requires us to pay attention to what is happening in our physical bodies, consciously recognizing that our bodies will express what we keep silent, what we do not want to talk about. The voice of our body is expressed in health, sometimes through pain that transforms into illness. For this process of personal growth, taking care of our diet is essential, understanding that the clearest path to physical and mental health is through nourishment that feeds both mind and spirit.

The care of our diet during the 10-day retreat in Hayulima is closely linked to each of the processes our guests experience in the sanctuary.

But how do we nourish ourselves? Living day-to-day in the modern world, with time constraints, finding everything pre-cooked and packaged in supermarkets, has led many of us to forget where fruit comes from. We have forgotten the joy of getting our hands dirty while eating a mango, and there are even those who have never seen a cow being milked to have fresh milk at home. The relationship we develop with our nourishment is a pathway to healing our relationship with ourselves.

Today, the disconnection from the awareness of cultivating the land to grow food, especially for those living in big cities, is immense. This food globalization has allowed our foods to be filled with pesticides and preservatives; the taste changes, and what happens in our bodies when we eat this way is reflected in our thoughts. How our mind functions is embodied in our day-to-day actions.

Choosing what we eat is an inheritance from our grandparents. They left us good seeds to plant, clean water to drink, and healthy soil to grow food for generation after generation.

It is our decision to choose the foods with which we nourish our bodies and our families; it is the sovereignty of our people. Our grandparents cared for and protected the land with the awareness that without it, there are no nations, and therefore, no nationalities. Our ancestors understood that healthy eating creates families with healthy thoughts, and thus, healthy nations.

Our thoughts are conditioned by our actions. This journey of inner knowledge changes the roots of our beliefs, and anything our mind imagines can be materialized in this world, in this universe. Opening ourselves to new beliefs and embracing new eating habits is necessary for a change in our daily actions.
